Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods refer to certain hazardous goods that the secretary of transportation has recognized as dangerous and are capable of imposing a threat to health, safety, and property while being shipped. Most courier firms ban the shipment of certain items because of the nature of the goods. These items must be carried with extreme caution and must be declared prior to shipment. Some harmful commodities are forbidden from shipping by one or more modes of transportation. Because of their chemical or physical qualities, certain commodities are designated as DG goods. Crackers, gases, flammable liquids, corrosive substances, and so on are examples.



Kitting

Kitting refers to compiling separate but related products in a ready-to-ship kit. This saves a lot of time, and cost for the sellers and streamlines order fulfillment. For example, when a customer orders a computer, he may also order a mouse, hard disk, headphones, etc. In such cases, all these products are shipped in a single piece rather than shipping them separately.



COD collection fee

This is the fee assocaited with collection of cash at the time of delivery levied by courier partners.This fee is used to incentivise delivery executives to collect and safegaurd funds collected at the time of delviery and is also used to cover the charges incurred by courier partners in facilitating collection either via electronic means or hard cash, safegaurding these funds and processing them for remittance. This is usually calcaulted as the maximum of a fixed value or a percetnage of the amount collected



RTO Initiated

Before being designated as an RTO order, a shipment is attempted for delivery three times. When the courier partner marks your order as an RTO, it is said to be at the RTO Initiated stage.


