GST number

A GSTIN, which stands for Goods and Services Tax Identification Number, is a unique identification number consisting of 15 digits that is assigned to every taxpayer, including dealers, suppliers, and other business entities, that is registered under the GST regime.



Deadweight

Deadweight refers to the true weight of your shipment, which is used as the basis for calculating shipping charges by some courier services. In this method, the physical dimensions of the shipment are not considered.



Volumetric divisor

This is a fixed number defined by courier partners and is used as the dividing factor while calculating volumetric or dimensional weight. The divisor can change from courier partner ot courier parntner or depending on the mode of transposrtation used - Air, Surface or Cargo movement



Dimensional Weight or volumetric weight

Dimensional weight, often known as DIM weight, is the space that a package occupies while being shipped. Consider the amount of room there is in a truck or a plane. If your box occupies a little more room than the weight it is charged for, you will be charged for that extra room. You are charged either the real or dimensional weight whichever is higher. Dimensional weight is calculated by multiplying the length, width and height of the shipment and dividing it by a courier specific volumetric divisor.


